چکیده
Municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills create the environmental pollutions due to problems related toxins, leachate, and greenhouse gas, which are growing concerns, especially in developing countries. This paper presents a novel mathematical modelling for simulating spread of heavy metals soil layers MSW landfills. A new procedure is studied deriving governing equation describes time varying concentration pollutants leachate 3-dimensional (3D) space layers. Finite Element Method (FEM) based algorithm then constructed solve numerically over 3D effectively analyzing variation concentrations. Finally, applicability advantages proposed method demonstrated through case study with samples collected from actual landfill. The successfully developed can be applied model predict different landfill sites; develop effective solutions policies classification management, order minimise negative impacts potential risk toxic metal pollutions, contaminations groundwater areas nearby

Assessment of Heavy Metals and Organics in Municipal Solid Waste Leachates from Landfills with Different Ages in Jordan
A comprehensive assessment of heavy metals and organic content was performed for leachates produced from a number of old and new landfills in Jordan over 9 month in efforts to set a framework for treatment regulations. All leachates were basic (pH = 7 9) and have high electric conductivity and high organic contents (COD = 3000 500,000 mg/L, TOC= 500 21,000 mg/L). The organic content was inverse...

This study was conducted to investigate thermal aspects of municipal solid waste landfills as a function of operational conditions and climatic region. Spatial and temporal distributions of waste temperatures were determined at four landfills located in North America Michigan, New Mexico, Alaska, and British Columbia. Temperatures of wastes at shallow depths extending to 6 to 8 m depth and ...
متن کاملMunicipal Solid Waste Landfills Harbor Distinct Microbiomes
Landfills are the final repository for most of the discarded material from human society and its "built environments." Microorganisms subsequently degrade this discarded material in the landfill, releasing gases (largely CH4 and CO2) and a complex mixture of soluble chemical compounds in leachate. Characterization of "landfill microbiomes" and their comparison across several landfills should al...
